Abstract

In the context of the constant growth of man-made load on the environment and public health, the need to assess the risks of such impacts in order to manage them and develop risk-control measures is increasing.
The study aim was to elaborate algorithms for managing public health risk in an industrial region and at an individual enterprise.
Materials and methods. To establish the link between the results of project implementation (emission reduction) and the reduction of public health risk, as well as to prioritize environmental projects, the methodology of A.A. Golub et al. was used.
Results. An algorithm for assessing and managing public health risk living in industrial regions from adverse environmental impacts was elaborated. A risk assessment and management algorithm for an industrial enterprise with sources of atmospheric emissions was also proposed.
Conclusion. By applying risk management algorithms in an industrial region and implementing low-cost environmental projects from the perspective of the risk concept, it is possible to reduce the health risk to the region’s population while increasing the efficiency of financial investments in the environmental sector.
