METABOLIC AND CARDIOVASCULAR RISKS IN WOMEN OF REPRODUCTIVE AGE WITH POLYCYSTIC OVARY SYNDROME

Abstract
Objective – to determine the metabolic and cardiovascular risks in women of reproductive age with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
Materials and methods. 60 women of reproductive age with PCOS and without PCOS, studied by general clinical, gynecological, instrumental, laboratory, statistical methods.
Results. Statistically significant differences мetabolic and cardiovascular risks in women of reproductive age with PCOS have been determined. Women with PCOS significantly more often defined obesity, more ratio of the waist circumference to the hip circumference (p = 0.049), more often there was an increase in blood pressure above 140/90 mm Hg (p = 0.028), all biochemical indicators differed as criteria for metabolic syndrome: in 3.4 times the level of triglycerides (U = 0.001; p = 0.0001), 2.96 times lower than HDL cholesterol (U = 900,000; p = 0.0001), 1.2 times higher than glucose (U = 0.000; p = 0.0001).
Summarizing all the risk factors for cardiovascular disease: obesity, cigarette smoking, hypertension, dyslipidemia, family history, women of reproductive age with PCOS, we are classified as a moderate risk group for the development of cardiovascular diseases. It has been established that metabolic and cardiovascular risks develop and manifest in women with PCOS at a young age of up to 30 years.
Conclusion. Metabolic and cardiovascular risks in women with PCOS have a tendency to earlier development than in women without PCOS. The need to conduct an earlier diagnosis of the metabolic syndrome and its complex correction, to reduce the development of its remote consequences, primarily the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases in this category of patients.
